01 / 10

On 2nd April Fo Guang Shan south island New Zealand have conducted Qing Ming Dharma function, more than 80 devotees have joined in this function. The 2 hours dharma function, pious devotees have followed venerables chanting the “Mahayana sutra” and hope this will transfer the chanting merit for departed ancestor. When devotees chanting the sutras, they were inspired and touched by the voice of chanting.

After the Dharma function, temple supervisor Venerable Jue Xi have given a dharma speech stated that Qing Ming function beside remember the departed ancestor, we also need to remunerate the favour of our parent, country, triple gems and sentient being. Venerable Juexi also mention a short story stated that a venerable is seeking for Buddha dharma. One evening, he passes a village and met a blind man with a lantern. The venerable asking the blind man why he bothers to carry lantern for himself? The blind man replied the lantern is to avoid other people to hit him by chance and is not used for seeking the path. The moral of the story tells us that we must always become brighter elements. As our heart is brighter, other people and ourselves will feel the brightness and hope in darkness. So during Qing Ming function, we must encourage ourselves to be a “clear” and “understandable” person. This will benefit ourselves and give others a secure and safety feeling.
