Fo Guang Shan (North Island) Mothers’ Day Celebration ~ Movie Study Group “Peaceful Warrior”

On 9 May, Fo Guang Shan (North Island) sub-chapters, East One and East Two co-organized a ‘movie study group’ to celebrate Mothers day which attracted 70 devotees to see the inspiring movie Peaceful warrior. The movie is about a potential Olympic gold medalist who had a motor cycle accident which shattered his Olympic dream. However, with the help of a wise old man, he overcame his hardships and continued to pursue his dream. The process of transforming and training was inspiring and correlated to Buddhism. BLIA President, Dolly Tsai, sub-chapter Presidents and Venerable joined different groups to discuss how the movie had inspired them. Everyone felt they had learnt how practical and precious are the teachings of the Buddha. Only when we are focused and quiet are we able to listen to our inner voice in order to concentrate on what we are pursuing in life. We have to break free from our old self and appreciate our life journey to attain a higher spiritual level in life.
