Fo Guang Shan (North Island) celebrated Mothers Day

Fo Guang Shan (North Island) held Mothers Day celebrations during the Sunday Dharma Service on 9 May. Abbess Manshin led 80 devotees to recite “Filial Piety Sutra” and Mothers’ Day prayers written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. After the service BLIA members performed a traditional dance and a song ‘Gao shan qing’ which were followed by a sketch and hip hop dance by YAD members to express their gratitude to all mothers. All mothers were given a rose as a Mothers day present. Abbess Manshin led everyone in the sing along session by singing the heartwarming song ‘Gratitude’. Two cakes, designed by the YAD, were then presented. Abbess Manshin explained the ‘Gratitude lyrics and encouraged everyone to treat every moment we encounter in life with gratitude in order to enrich our inner self with life experiences.
