Dharma Movie Study Class

New Zealand BLIA South Island West Chapter division have started 2010 movie study group on 17th March. Fo Guang Shan monastery Venerable Yong Ben used Tibetan Venerable Master Tsong-kha-Pa’s famous work ‘The Great Treatise on the Stages of The Path to Enlightenment’ as study title, and divided to 10 weeks session. There were approximate 30 member of BLIA attended the first class.
The courses started with Fo Guang Shan lecturer Mrs. Gu introduction on 8 Main Buddhist School, Buddhist Sutra, the inheritance of Tibetan Buddhist, the history of the literature and its structure order and short biography of Venerable Master Tsong-kha-Pa. After the briefing, watching the movie lecture by Venerable Yong Ben that recorded in Taiwan.

Firstly, when listening this pre- lecture. Students must set their mind to prepare to accpet. In this literature, it has 10 main chapters will be conduct. Venerable Yong Ben have stated as a sincere Buddhist, the basic step are taking the refuge on triple gem, obey the 5 precepts and doing the 10 good deeds. Those who didn’t take refuge on triple gem will only be bystander and can’t devote more in Buddhism.

At the end of the class, Mrs. Gu have explained some simple Buddhist terminology and Q&A sessions with the members. They were gladness after attend the first class and hope to attend the class on next week.
