Strengthening the Bond with the Community~ Ports of Auckland Round the Bays Fun Run/Walk Event
On 14 March, BLIA President Dolly Tsai, Vice President Linda Daniell and Venerable Rulian led 38 of the BLIA members to participate in the annual Round the Bays charity fun run/walk which attracted seventy-two thousand people. Prime Minster John Key launched the official opening of the 8.4Km run. Companies, schools and organisations advertised themselves through unique and innovative T-shirts, floats and costumes etc to attract attention. BLIA members waving their little flag in an all black uniform and the yellow vest were also outstanding among the crowd; some even enquired and were interested to know about the BLIA organisation.
The BLIA English Sub-chapter had initiated participation in the Round the Bays event to strengthen the Temple’s interaction with the community and as part of the Temple’s charity event. This was the seventh times Fo Guang Shan Temple (North Island) has participated in this event.
