Hang Zhou Buddhist Association (China) Visits Fo Guang Shan (North Island)
On Saturday 13 March, 17 guests from the Hang Zhou Buddhist Association of China, including Venerable Miao Gao, Venerable Yan Kong and Venerable Jiyun, visited Fo Guang Shan (North Island) and were welcomed by Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Manwang, BLIA President Dolly Tsai and 20 BLIA members.
While the architecture of the Fo Guang Shan Temple (North Island) is adapted from the palatial design of the Tang Dynasty, how does Buddhism integrate and blend into the local landscape and culture of New Zealand? How is Fo Guang Shan able to propagate Dharma to all over the world? And what is the strength behind Venerable Master Hsing Yun that has made him the first person, after the Buddha, to let the Buddha’s light shine in the three thousand realms and Dharma water flow in the five continents? These are all the questions which interested the guests from the Hang Zhou Buddhist Association.
“Humanistic Buddhist is practical and transcends all religions, races and cultures”, said Abbess Venerable Manshin. She explained that in Western Countries, propagating Dharma is through the discussion on the meaning of life and searching for the inner self. We also propagate the Dharma through Arts and Culture, and even the trees and leaves in the Temple convey the message of the Buddha.
