IBA Thousand Buddha Dharma Function
2010 Chinese New year had finally arrived, to celebrate the year of tiger. On 14th February 10 am, New Zealand South Island IBA had organised “Thousand Buddha Dharma function” and have attracted nearly 100 BLIA members and devotees. The dharma function starts with gem offering for Buddha. Venerable Jue Xi has leaded the devotees chanting on “Thousand Buddha sutra” and “New Year prayer” by Venerable Grand Master Hsin Yun. At the end of chanting, everyone wished Venerable Grand Master Hsin Yun, Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Headquarter Venerable Xinpei and Abbess of Fo Guang Shan New Zealand Venerable Manshin a good new year.
Venerable Jue Xi has given a dharma speech stated the year of golden tiger will be prosperity year and explained the meaning of 10 great vows in the “new year prayer” and her own Chinese New Year Wishes. She also shared 4 tips for everyone: first, tolerate with a bottom line; second, confuse once a while; third, forget the past and cultivate for the future; fourth, motivate for the best. Devotees are glad they had received wisdom tips and red “good luck” packet. Some devotees have offering light to Buddha or cultivate on copying Heart Sutra.
During lunch time, locals that having lunch in tea house also joined the Chinese New Year Culture festival in Art gallery. Some of the visitors have shared their view that Chinese New Year celebration is unique and different from what they have; they are delight that can experience this with everyone else in here.
