A Heart Warming Buddhist Wedding Ceremony

01 / 05

Hand in hand together we will live happily forever. On 8 March, BLIA South Island Nelson Division President Mrs Lin Yu Ye’s daughter Sharon and her fiancé Gregory Savill were married in a Buddhist Wedding Ceremony at Fo Guang Shan Temple (North Island).
The couple, their families, friends and relatives and BLIA members, marched along the Field Merits towards the Main shrine led by Venerable Abbess Manshin who presided over the blessing ceremony. The simple yet solemn ceremony began with the Incense Praise, Heart Sutra and A Prayer for the Wedding Ceremony written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Venerable Manshin presented the Bodhi couple with prayer beads and pronounced them as husband and wife under the witness of the Buddha.
Sharon’s family members, including her two sisters and brother who flew from Australia to attend her wedding, together with her parents and friends, showered the couple with blessings, wishing them to respect, be tolerant and understanding of each other after the marriage. Tears started to roll down the couple’s cheeks as the best present they could have received for their wedding was none other than the blessings from their family and friends.
