Relaxation and Meditation Class

01 / 10

The first noontime Relaxation and Meditation Class was held on 2nd February at Fo Guang Shan South Island. In accordance to the current direction of the Temple’s propagation of Buddhism, that is, to bring the Buddha Dharma to the local people, English Social Education’s Shenghan Lim organised a relaxation and meditation class for members of the local community to have time out from their hurried work and family environments during their break time.

During the class, the instructor introduced to the 12 people who attended the basic concepts and techniques of walking and sitting mediation while modelling the correct postures, and guided them through the many steps of entering meditation as they tried it for themselves.

The class was something fresh to the many participants who have never practiced meditation. Many of them remarked that the meditation had allowed them to relieve their tensions and stresses of everyday life.
The classes will be held Tuesday to Friday, 12:30pm to 1:10 pm, and 2 to 3pm on Saturdays, and will be held four weeks at a time. A fresh topic will be introduced to the class each week.
