Saturday English Service
Twelve people took part in the English Saturday Service was held on 13 February. Tai Chi was followed by a temple tour which the participants found very interesting and particularly because the temple was beautifully decorated for the Lunar New Year celebrations on 14 February. Venerable Miao Yu explained the significances of celebrating Lunar New Year in the temple: 1)Giving the auspicious red packet to the devotees during Lunar New Year’s eve signifies that the temple is everybody’s spiritual home 2) By treating everyone in the temple as a big family, we wish them Longevity by taking part in the ‘Longevity Dharma Service” 3) Offering incense is for the hope of a better future 4) Offering flowers signifies impermanence so to encourage one to treasure the present. Flowers also represent unity, confidence and giving.5)Vegetarian food symbolizes abundant of food for the rest of the year.
