An Energising Discussion of Chinese New Year Events
Another FGS South Island Staff meeting was held on 21st January, and the 10 staff who attended included Temple Supervisor Venerable Juexi, Venerable Miaoyu, and the department leaders of the Waterdrop Cafe, the Administration Team, the Art Gallery, the Information Team and the Dharma Affairs Group. Each group reported on their work in progress, and items of discussion included were:
1. The preparation of the ‘Awe-Inspiring Virtue and Ocean of Merits’ Cultural Festival.
2. Sakyamuni Buddha’s Enlightenment Day. The amount of congee to be prepared, the route of delivery, and the recruitment of the delivery team were discussed.
3. The number of the Art Gallery’s friends who are attending the closing afternoon tea for Helena Kim’s Egg Art exhibition.
4. The tasks involved in packing up the Pressed Flower Exhibition.
5. The progress of the publishing of FGS South Island’s annual report
6. The preparation of the Chinese New Year Celebration Dinner and the confirmation of attendance numbers.
7. The promotion of the ‘One Million Heart Sutras in the Buddha’ cultivation program.
Venerable Juexi encouraged everyone to cherish each day as an opportunity to live more meaningful lives and to make the most of the opportunities the Temple has given them to show their true colours. The Venerable hopes everyone will shine forth for Buddhism.
