01 / 06

Reporter Ling Ling Liang from New Zealand’s only Chinese television station, WTV, visited FGS South Island on 21st January with the recommendation of a friend. Temple Supervisor Venerable Juexi, Venerable Miaoyu, BLIA South Island Director Louisa Guo and Public Relations Officer Seeshen Lee took Ms. Liang around the Temple, and introduced her to the Buddha Hall, the Four Great Bodhisattvas and the Egg Art exhibition and Pressed Flower exhibition of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island.

Through the Venerables’ introduction, Ms. Liang gained a better understanding of the Temple building and its architectural concepts, and developed confidence in the idea of propagating of Buddhism through arts as well as localizing Buddhism. Ms. Liang commented on the differences in culture and patronage between North and South Island FGS, and said that the multiculturalism denoted by the differences have left her amazed.

Ms. Liang praised the Venerables for being able to bring FGS’s traditional ideologies into the local community where local cultures are prevalent.
