Shan Shan Shiao’s Unstoppable Audience
Even the cold gusts and miserable rain could not stop the visitors from seeing the Pressed Flower exhibition on 12th January. Even with such weather, over 50 visitors braved the adverse weather and made their way to Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island, and more so, broke the record for the exhibition’s daily visitor numbers. This kept the volunteer tour guides busy with never ending guided tours.
Several visitors could not believe that the extraordinary images in the art works were created from flower petals, tree barks and leaves; at least not until they saw the veins of the once alive plants. Just like the previous exhibitions, the pressed flower display has proven to be a hit with Christchurch locals, who expect many more high-quality exhibitions in the future. They also hinted that they will be spreading the news of this special place in Christchurch, so that others may also absorb the peaceful atmosphere of the Temple and enjoy the beautiful art works the Art Gallery exhibits.
