Fo Guang Shan Temple (North Island) 5th Family Visit

01 / 05

Fo Guang Shan (North Island) had their fifth family visit to the home of Alice Bao on 23 January 2010. Abbess Venerable Manshin, Venerable Miao Yu, BLIA Vice President, Peter Chen, and his wife together, with 5 other members were in the visiting party.
Alice Bao is an active and a responsible volunteer who helps in the Front Shrine reception counter. She enjoys her volunteering service very much and finds it meaningful. Her friend, who is new to Buddhism, was surprised that Humanistic Buddhism is not as profound and serious as she had always thought. She finds Venerable Abbess Manshin’s guidance simple, realistic and applicable to daily life.
Venerable Abbess Manshin explained that one practices Humanistic Buddhism through doing work, and beening busy is nourishment. When one keeps oneself busy, one will not have time to gossip. Practicing Buddhism is happy, simple and relaxed, yet spiritually rich. When one is willing to serve the community, one’s value increases. She encouraged everyone to find courage and to be brave during adversity and then people will find out what one is truly capable of doing, gathering handsome rewards in the process.
