Abbess Venerable Manshin, Venerable Miao Yu, Venerable Rulian, Venerable Jue Hao, YAD members and 5 other members were in the visiting party. Mr Xie Kun and his wife Sister Feng Mei came to New Zealand to visit their daughter and daughter-in-law a few months ago and since then the whole family have become active volunteers at the Temple. They have helped with the New Year sales, youth education, reception in the Front Shrine and poster design work.
During the visit they shared their experiences and interesting encounters of their volunteer service at the Temple. Sister Feng Mei is grateful to Fo Guang Shan for giving her family a chance to serve the Temple which has brought the family closer together through the beneficial practice of Humanistic Buddhism advocated by Master Hsing Yun.
Mr Xie Kun praised the Venerable for their enthusiasm and devotion in youth education which made him decided to devote his time to help re-organise and plan for the development of the Fo Guang Chinese School.
Abbess Venerable Manshin encouraged everyone to keep busy as it is the best nourishment and volunteering work leads to a meaningful life. She welcomed Mr Xie Kun and his family to the big family of Fo Guang Shan.
