Staff Meeting Welcomes New Year By Planning Events

On the night of 5th January, a staff meeting was held at Fo Guang Shan South Island. The eight people who attended this meeting included Temple Supervisor Venerable Juexi, Gina Chen of Water Drop Café, Tracy Chen of Administration, James Low of the News Department, Benny Wong of Publicity and Shenghan Lim of Social Education.

Topics of discussion included:
1. house blessing, home visit and birthday celebration on 9th January
2. The route and method of delivering the ‘eight treasure’ congee on Sakyamuni Buddha’s Enlightenment Day
3. The Dharma Affairs and souvenirs for The Fulfilling Buddha’s Light Function
4. Finalisation of the guest list for the Volunteers Celebration Dinner
5. Preparation for Helena’s Egg Art Exhibition Finale Seminar
6. Preparation for the Lantern Festival Dinner
7. The Relaxation and Meditation Class

During the meeting, the members of the different departments discussed their progress and contents of their current projects and proposed methods of improvement for each other. Venerable Juexi proposed that in the future, there should be monthly events that will invite the locals to the Temple. She also encouraged everyone to appreciate the opportunity for being able to come to the Temple and serve the public.

Buddha Dharma is an attitude and way of life; faith can change our quality of life and we need to be responsible for our own actions. Every member of each department is essential to the propagation of Buddhism in New Zealand and we must all give it our absolute best.
