Unexpected encounter with artist Haihui Wang

Haihui Wang was introduced to Abbess Venerable Manshin by another visiting artist Yin Ling Tang at Fo Guang Shan (North Island) on 5 January. This was an unplanned meeting as the guests just happened to be visiting the Temple. Mr. Wang was also present and he has visited Yin Ling Tang’s exhibition at Fo Guang Shan (North Island) Art Gallery before and has given Haihui Wang much support in the past.
Mr. Wang commented on the Temple’s serenity and atmosphere which in his opinion helps to promote spiritual growth - especially for artists. He said he often invited his non-Chinese friend to the Temple to experience the Chinese culture that can be experienced here.

He commented that the Temple itself is a piece of art. He thanked Venerable Manshin for maintaining such a wonderful Monastery for the people of Auckland. Venerable Manshin said the function of the Temple was akin to a school, a petrol station and even a supermarket. It was a place where personal gains could be made. She gave “Nan Fang People Weekly” issue no 183 to Mr. Wang as a gift from the Temple.
