Fo Guang Shan (North Island) “ One Million Heart Sutras in The Buddha” Ceremony

Fo Guang Shan (North Island) held its first “ One Million Heart Sutras in The Buddha” copying event on 1 January. About 400 people attended including Cheng Pei-pei who is a well known Hong Kong actress . Also New Zealand Artist Tang Yin-Ling ,the wife of World TV president , the advertising manager of World TV, representatives from various Chinese organization , BLIA working committee members as well as ordinary devotees from all parts of Auckland attended.
Abbess Venerable Manshin led the chanting at the start of the ceremomy. Then she explained the significance of sutra copying. She hoped that by participating in this event, everyone would be able to cultivate humility, sincerity, empathy and compassion.
Though some English Sub-chapter members do not understand Chinese, they still copied the Chinese characters stroke by stroke with everyone else with patience with concentration and diligence. In doing so everyone has contributed to the building of the Buddha Memorial Hall in Taiwan and to world peace.
