4th meeting of the “One Million Heart Sutras in the Buddha” project Committee
The last meeting of the year was on 27 December 2009. 14 people attended the meeting including Venerable Man Wang and Ex-Principal Xie Kun who chaired the meeting. They watched the video on the Buddha Memorial Hall at the start of the meeting to reinforce to the members the significance of the sutra copying event and the building of the Buddha Memorial Hall. Venerable Man Wang listed the itinerary for “ One Million Heart Sutras in the Buddha” event on 1 January 2010 . The committees started to discuss the admission sequence; the capacity and the sitting arrangement of the main shrine; the allocation of duties in various divisions and the handling of unexpected situations on the event day.
To date, 335 people have signed up for the 1 January 2010 sutra copying event which is better than expected. The event committees are targeting to get at least 300 people. A debriefing session will be held after the event on 3 January 2010 to improve on the flow of the event.
The administrative sub-committees held a group discussion after the meeting to further discuss how to simplify the admission sequences to facilitate crowd movement on the event day. Two of the committee members even acted out the scenario which might be expected during the day which, added some humor in the meeting. Meanwhile, various BLIA members were helping to assemble the sutra copying kit at the other room. Each person will perform to make this event a great success.
