FGS South Island NZ promotes Charcoal Black Burger

Since it’s inception, the Water Drop Cafe in Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island New Zealand has always been a tranquil place which offers quality services for an enjoyable dining experience. The all vegetarian menu is regularly refreshed, and its contents have changed many local Christchurch people’s expectations of what constitutes as typical ‘vegetarian’ food. Most recently, the South Island Water Drop Cafe introduced a new addition to it’s lineup – a black burger – black because of it’s charcoal ingredient, which is yet another healthy vegetarian dish to look forward to on your next visit.

The new Charcoal Black Burger comes with a selection of two flavors. You can have the pure vegan curry chickpea choice or the satay vege fillet option. The cafe revealed this new charcoal sensation on the first of April, and every customer who tried it was delighted by its taste. The response on social media has been very positive, and it is encouraging to see so many people spreading the word and making plans to come and try it out.

This black looking burger has been giving a cool title – the Black Pearl, and in Christchurch, it has also been nicknamed the All Blacks Burger as a reference to the national rugby team. The black pearl’s inner patty is not just a juicy thing sandwiched between spongy and chewy buns, it also has an incredible nutritional element as a bonus. The coconut charcoal has toxin absorption properties, able to clean up our digestive system and remove all those bad toxins from our body.

FGS South Island Temple Supervisor Venerable Jue Xi describes the Black Charcoal Burger as an epic creation from Christchurch’s vegetarian food scene. The inspiration arose from combining the classic burger so entrenched in Western cuisine, with the more health-conscious mindset of traditional Oriental food. The creation process is all thanks to our dessert expert Andrea’s efforts, handmade entirely step by step from flour to finish into the black pearl that it is.
