House Blessing Ceremony Brings Peace and Happiness

01 / 10

Those present shared their experiences of volunteering at the Temple, expressing that language is not a barrier if one has the heart to serve society; and that giving others confidence and joy are the missions of all Fo Guang people. Abbess passed on her wishes to Ms. Wang and her family, hoping that they may find peace and happiness in their new home.

In order to bless the new home of BLIA director Ms. Christine Wang, and at the same time provide an opportunity for BLIA members to socialise, a house blessing ceremony was conducted on the 25th December. BLIA North-one Subchapter was the event organiser, and Subchapter President Guihua Yang and Ms. Wang cordially invited Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Juexi and Venerable Miaoyu to her new home to conduct a blessing ceremony.

The Venerables led the 30 people present through the blessing procedure, which included chanting the “Praise of the Holy Water” and the “Chapter of the Universal Gateway of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva” and reciting the “Prayer for New Residence”. The maje ceremony concluded with a water cleansing ritual while reciting Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s name.

Venerable Abbess Manshin prayed for the peace, harmony and safety of Ms. Wang’s family; and for the conditions to continue practicing Buddhism without hindrance. Abbess also presented Ms. Wang with a copy of “Fo Guang Shan 40th Anniversary Special Issue”.

After the blessing ceremony, the Abbess shared some words with everyone present, noting that all the achievements of Fo Guang Shan and BLIA are the result of the hard work of BLIA members and devotees.

Special mention was given to the volunteers at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch; they have used their wholehearted enthusiasm to introduce the Art Gallery and Temple architecture to the visitors of the Temple, and in doing so, have moved the locals with their efforts and contribution. They have also helped bring into motion the propagation of Buddhism through art.

The Abbess gave her best wish to Ms. Wang and her family for their new home and she also gave her thanks to all the reverends and devotees who were present that day. Ms. Wang thanked all the Venerables and guests who attended the ceremony, and noted that she will return to the Temple to volunteer and share her Dharma joy with everyone.
