Learning Buddhism Can Be Fun!
On 12th December, BLIA South Island held their annual one day outing, and this year’s venue was Akaroa Harbour. BLIA President Mr. Almeric Cheng, Vice-president Ms. Meihua Chen along with 36 other BLIA members and their families participated.
With the glorious sun greeting them in the morning, everyone set off for Akaroa from Burnside Park on a tour bus under the guidance of Venerable Miaoyu. Passing the Cherry Farm on the way, the BLIA members leapt at the opportunity to harvest a good lot of produce, which they later enjoyed during the trip.
After spending a day taking in the scenery of Akaroa and enjoying lunch and coffee, the members explored the town in smaller groups, with some going on walking trails, and others doing some shopping in the old French-style town. On the way back to Christchurch, the group stopped by at the Cheese factory and took some time to explore it.
During the return journey, everyone sung the song “Cloud Lake”, and in the melodious verses of the song, they felt as though they were travelling along the picturesque Yixing lake.
Venerable Miaoyu shared with everyone Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s view of travelling and discovery, stating that during their vacations abroad, there are many Buddhist temples and holy places worthy of their visit, and that they can gain a lot in terms of knowledge and experiences along the way.
Learning the Dharma can be fun. The Dharma joy experienced amongst fellow Dharma brothers and sisters is inconceivable. The BLIA members concluded their memorable outing by inviting everyone to their next event.
