Record Set as Three Exhibitions Fill FGY Art Gallery
On 4th December, the Ikebana International Christchurch Chapter 202 and Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch organised and co-organised “Nature and Life” floral exhibition opened.
The Art Gallery set a new record as it simultaneously displays three exhibitions, namely the Egg Art Exhibition, Shiao Shan Shan World Tour of Pressed Flower Art Exhibition and the “Nature and Life” floral exhibition; and in the process has attracted hundreds of visitors to the Art Gallery every day.
This year is the second time the “Nature and Life” floral exhibition has been organised in collaboration by FGY Art Gallery Christchurch and Ikebana Association, and this time, the exhibition consisted of 20 tutors and 30 artworks from three different factions.
From 4th to 6th December, visitors enjoyed live demonstrations conducted by the president of the Ikebana Association Mr. Fred Hollingworth, former president Ms. Ray King, Secretary Ms. Wendy Johnson and member Ms. Wang.
The audiences were all absorbed by the nature and simplicity of the works and gave their grand applause to the demonstrations. Around 30 artworks permeated throughout the Art Gallery, Water Drop Café, Courtyard and the Time Capsule Hallway.
The floral arrangements complemented and integrated with the building itself, presenting an environment of nature and harmony. Viewers expressed that exhibitions held by the FGY Art Gallery were all high in standard and were content rich, and beautified their view of art.
