Graduates from Wing 299 of the Royal New Zealand Police Corp Pays Pilgrimage to the Temple – Becoming One’s own Source of Power
Constable Tom Li and his 16 new graduates from the RNZPC Wing 299 visited the Fo Guang Shan North Island to learn about the temple’s diverse and multicultural culture. Then were welcomed by Venerable Rulian and Annie Ng, Director of BLIA North Island.
Annie explained to the guests about the temple’s architectural principals and functions, and the philosophy behind the venue’s educational, cultural and Dharma propagation. This has given the guests new perspective and insights. Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s book “366 Days of Wisdom”were also introduced to them, from which they were amazed by the wisdom for life within.
This was followed by a temple tour led by Annie Ng, who guided the guests from the Main Shrine to the Pagoda, where everyone was blessed by making light offerings and chanting the 4 Gathas of Transferring Merit in English. Then they visited the “Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s One Stroke Calligraphy World Touring Exhibition” They were touched by 90 year old Venerable Master’s hard work and demonstration of his profound wisdom. This has inspired them to take Venerable Master Hsing Yun as a role model.
Last event for the day was having a Tai Chi session to refresh the guests from their busy lives. As parting gifts, the temple also gave them Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s books “366 Days of Wisdom” and “Human life” so they can share in these wisdom during their police career.
