BLIA Presented with Red Cross’s Honour of Love Award
The Christchurch branch of Red Cross New Zealand held their annual “Delivering Lunchboxes with Love-Meals on Wheels” tea party on 3rd November at The Chateau on the Park Restaurant. Organiser Sam Morrison presided over the meeting, inviting all the volunteers who had helped out with Meals on Wheels.
BLIA South Island Directors Qiuxia Wang, Meiling Wei, Huiying Li and several others represented BLIA during the party, and together with other Red Cross volunteer groups, made up the 40 participants of the party.
Prizes were presented to volunteers who had either fulfilled ten or 20 years of service with Red Cross, and BLIA received the Honour of Love Award for having continuously delivered lunch boxes to elderly people living alone for over ten years. Red Cross thanked the volunteers for their hard work and encouraged everyone to continue with their efforts in bringing the elderly some warmth and love. The volunteers were also given a member’s handbook and were briefed with current issues.
