Encounter with Most Venerable Ignites Wisdom in Youth
It was Most Venerable Hsin Ting and the accompanying Venerables’ presence on 28th September which created a joyful atmosphere Fo Guang Shan’s southernmost branch Temple in the world. When the Most Venerable and other Venerables met FGS South Island’s energetic youth, they could not resist expressing their care and praise to the youth.
The youth group members, who range from 13 years to 23 years of age, come from various parts of the world; they come from Malaysia, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong just to name several. It is because of Buddhism’s presence in Christchurch that they have the conditions to meet each other, and at the Temple, the youth shoulder important responsibilities, such as playing Dharma instruments, doing meal service, meal preparation and helping with the reception to name a few.
The Venerables presented the youth with souvenirs, and gave the youth their best wishes, hoping they can one day become the agents of Buddhism, and bear the responsibility of propagating the Dharma. Most Venerable boosted the youth’s morale by sharing a group photo with the youth. The sacred encounter with the eminent monk deeply moved the youth and brought them great joy, and their relationship with the Temple has all the more been deepened further.
