Great Compassion Repentance Dharma Function

01 / 05

In order to celebrate Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s Day of Enlightenment, the temple held a Great Compassion Repentance Dharma Function on 17th July. The ceremony was presided by Venerable Abbess Manshin and participated by over 200 devotees, where they paid homage to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and sincerely repented their transgressions.

“Why do you come to the temple? Why do you want to learn Buddhism?” the Abbess asked everyone after the service. She encouraged everyone to develop agile, wise, compassionate, inspirational, humble, persevering, loyal and diligent minds, as Buddhism is a religious for Enlightenment. So we should continuously to immerse these “six minds” within wise and positive influences of Buddhism. She also used Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s quote: “Becoming a Buddha is not important, more important is to be awakened.” In order to remind everyone this is a Mahayana venue of the Bodhisattva path. She encourages everyone to take heed from Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s repentance method to apply compassion, humility and aspiration for the Way in our daily lives. Finally she wished everyone to receive Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s blessings and become real Humanistic Buddhism practitioners.

She also encouraged everyone invite a copy of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s transcription of the “Heart Sutra” home, so we always be inspired by the Venerable Master’s wisdom and compassion.
