BLIA Social Gathering-The Deep & Meaningful Expounded
On 15th August, BLIA South Island North-one Sub-chapter organised a social gathering at veteran BLIA member Ms. Li-Hui Wu’s house. Over 30 BLIA members, including BLIA South Island President Almeric Cheng and wife, Vice-president Mei-Hua Chen, President of North-one Sub-chapter Gui-Hua Yang, President of West-one Sub-chapter Lisa Tsai and other committee members attended the heart warming event.
The BLIA members also invited Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Juexi and Venerable Miaoyu as special guests, hoping that they will receive guidance from the Venerables. Venerable Abbess Manshin took this opportunity to share “Abbess Time” with everyone, encouraging the migrants to improve the quality of their lives through faith and the Dharma, as well as to continue being diligent in building a strong foundation for themselves overseas.
Venerable Abbess Manshin referred to the Temple’s YAD members as an example to illustrate the function and importance of the Temple. Abbess explained that the young people have grown up and improved tremendously during their time at Temple, and hopes their parents will maintain good communication and interactions with their children as they undergo growth and development.
The Temple presented Ms. Wu with a copy of “Fo Guang Shan 40th Anniversary Special Issue”, and everyone present also received “Fo Guang Shan Address Book”. With everyone listening attentively, BLIA member Mei-Lin Lee shared her near death experience with everyone present, and Venerable Abbess Manshin used this opportunity to explain the concepts of the cycle of death and rebirth, and important issues regarding what a person faces during their after-life. Through this social gathering, everyone gained a better understanding and awareness on the meaning of life.
