NZ Police Training Service Centre Leadership Team Orientation to FGS NZ

01 / 09

On Friday 3 June 2016, 8 members of the Royal New Zealand Police College visited the Auckland Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple for 3 hours.

The police delegation was led by Superintendent Scott Fraser, General Manager Training for New Zealand Police.

The visit included a welcome by Venerable Abbess Manshin and the team, watching of a video of FGS activities, tour of the Main shrine, viewing of the 50th anniversary retrospective photographic exhibition, viewing of the Siddhartha children's exhibition, tour of the pagoda, lunch and a reflective session to contemplate their visit and observations.

Inspector Steve Darroch conveyed a message of thanks from the police delegation. He expressed that the group had been overwhelmed by the variety of activities and programmes offered by the temple to the community. They were amazed at the size of the temple and the beautiful gardens and attention to detail. He said that just when they thought they had seen everything they were conveyed to a new area that was even better than the previous one that had been visited. There were wonderful surprises located everywhere at the temple. He commented on the warmth he felt from everyone at the temple and how friendly all the Venerables and volunteers were. The hosts were always smiling and happy. Finally he acknowledged the strong bonds of cooperation that the temple has with police and how the police and society has benefitted from the partnership with the temple.

He did ask for a temple to be opened in the nations capital in New Zealand so that others may also enjoy the good fortune of the people in Auckland and Christchurch.

The delegation left with a promise to bring their families and other colleagues for a visit so they may share in their good fortune.
