Chch Girls Experience Spirit of Humanistic Buddhism
On 12th August, teacher Ms. Jeneveive brought 23 students from Christchurch Girls’ High School to Fo Guang Shan South Island for a visit. Upon their arrival, they were greeted by the Venerables and volunteers. BLIA South Island President Mr. Almeric Cheng took the students for a Temple tour, introducing them to the design concepts of Fo Guang Shan South Island’s building and the history of Humanistic Buddhism.
Following on, the visitors took time to appreciate the ”Way of Life Photograph Exhibition” at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island. Everyone was amazed by the skill of the photographers and was taken away by the breathtaking beauty of the North and South Island Fo Guang Shan.
The tour continued with an introduction to the Time Tunnel, Buddha Hall, library and basic Buddhism concepts. The humorous and relaxed guided tour concluded with the visitors expressing their appreciation towards the Venerables and volunteers at Fo Guang Shan South Island for their contribution of such exquisite artwork to the local community.
