Visit by the director of Taiwan Hong Jian Chuan Culture and Education Trust, Ms Jian Jing Hui, who shared her philosophy and essence of reading.
On the 4th of March, the director of Taiwan Hong Jian Chuan Culture and Education Trust, Ms Jian Jing Hui and her assistant Ms Hong Hui Zhu visited Fo Guang Shan North Island New Zealand. They were warmly welcomed by Abbess Man Hsing, the Venerables and the Working Committee. They offered Buddha’s Lights at the Main Shrine, enjoyed a tour around the temple and visited the Art Gallery, which is currently show-casing [Zen Heart – Xu Tiantong’s Travelling Exhibition Ink Paintings].
She commented that the New Zealand public is privileged to have a temple like this – a place for people to relax and reflect. As she was strolling around the temple surrounded by trees and gardens, Ms Jian could not stop praising the serenity of the environment. It was solemn and cleaner than one could imagine. Abbess attributed all these to the hardwork of the Venerables and the volunteers. Through the process of cultivation of gardens and trees, members learnt the spiritual aspect of meditation. Judging by the frequenting crowd, Ms Jian said she could visualise the hardwork done by the Venerables and the volunteers, and appreciated the careful thoughts that has gone into developing and localising this temple.
Ms Jian is one of the pioneers in forming the reading club. Her visit to NZ has truly been a pleasant and invaluable encounter. The following day, she led a segment of the reading club in understanding 《Giving out warm hand》, an article written recently by Fo Guang Shan’s Minister in Charge Venerable Hui Ping. She encouraged everyone to share the warmest stories of their lives, so everyone could feel the lively and plentiful aspect of the reading club..
In the afternoon, by invitation of the Chinese WTV, Ms Jian gave a special interview to first class journalist Ms Lian Lingling. The interview will be broadcast under “Who is my guest tonight” in WTV. She again shared her reading technique and philosophy, her view and experience in children’s upbringing, her realisation of life, thereby delivering an honest, pure and spiritual mind.
