BLIA South Island Holds 2nd Director’s Meeting

On 1st August, BLIA South Island held its second Directors meeting for 2009. In the presence of Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Juexi and Venerable Miaoyu, the meeting was chaired by BLIA South Island President Almeric Cheng, and those present included Vice-president Mei-Hua Chen, BLIA YAD 1 President Jason Liu and other BLIA committee members, totaling 10 people.

The meeting began with Mr. Cheng expressing his appreciation to everyone for their efforts in helping out with the operation of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island during the five month long Embroidery Exhibition.

Following on, Mr. Cheng presented certificates to the newly appointed Treasurer, Mrs. Wang, and Secretary, James Lau. The meeting agenda included:

1. The invitation from BLIA North Island for BLIA South Island to give a performance during the coming Sangha Offering Ceremony.
2. The date for the North and South Island BLIA Gathering.
3. The AGM date for BLIA South Island members.
4. The interaction between BLIA North Island’s English Sub-chapter and BLIA South Island.
5. BLIA South Island member’s one day trip.
6. The preparation and dates for 2010 Buddha’s Birthday Celebration.
Buddhist abbot Mitsunobu discovery: For Guang Shan Austronesian culture and the arts through a variety of activities to allow a gradual awareness among the people of Christchurch For Guang Shan of the team, want the public to continue to continue to the world the message of Buddhism. Thank the directors and the Buddhist abbot of the guide, and promised to continue to cooperate with the permanent policy of promoting efforts to promote the cause of a more localized Buddhist people.

Venerable Abbess Manshin stated that through arts and multicultural activities, the Christchurch community has become acquainted with the staff of Fo Guang Shan South Island. Abbess hopes that everyone will continue to work hard in sending out the message of Humanistic Buddhism. The committee members expressed their appreciation for the guidance of Venerable Abbess Manshin and the other Venerables, and promised to support the Temple in propagating and localising Humanistic Buddhism.
