01 / 08

BLIA South Island and BLIA YAD South Island members have wholeheartedly assisted the Temple in shouldering the responsibilities of tour guiding, reception and staffing both the frontline and backline of the Teahouse throughout the duration of the five month long Yao Hong Ying Embroidery Exhibition. In addition, special mention is also due to all the volunteers of Finale Dinner on 26th July, who made it a great success.

As a gesture of appreciation for everyone for their efforts in achieving the arduous task of realising a successful Exhibition, Fo Guang Shan South Island held a tea party in the evening of 30th July. 20 people attended the party, including BLIA South Island Vice-president Mei-Hua Chen, BLIA Director Gina Chen and BLIA YAD 2 President Danny Chen to name several. Venerable Juexi and Venerable Miaoyu were also present.

Abbess also stressed the importance of propagating the Dharma through art, and that in a quiet city of Christchurch, where everyone’s eyes are set on quality and not quantity; only rare and unique works of art may grab the attention of the locals, and the presence of Yao Hong Ying’s embroidery artworks in Christchurch embodies this notion.

On behalf of the Temple, Venerable Abbess Manshin thanked everyone for their commitment and contribution to making the Embroidery Exhibition a great success. Abbess acknowledged that during the last few months, everyone has cooperated and assisted each other in attending to all the guests who visited the Art Gallery, and furthermore, extending the Buddhism spirit to the visitors by introducing them to Humanistic Buddhism. Abbess encouraged everyone to continue improving and strive towards realising their next mission in propagating the Dharma.

Everyone shared their experiences and feelings with each other, and during the past five months, revealed experiences of personal growth, as well as the joys and hardships along the way. Most importantly, everyone expressed that no matter how tough the task at hand was, everyone toughed it out for the sake of realising Fo Guang Shan South Island’s success in propagating Buddhism, and adding another chapter to its history of achievements.
