English sub-chapter get together

To celebrate the election of the new committee and welcome new members the ESC held a social get together in which fifteen members, Venerables’ Miaoyu and Rulian participated.

The group sang a song of welcome to Venerable Rulian and presented a card thanking her for her guidance, while Venerable Miaoyu was overseas, which was greatly appreciated. Everyone gave a brief introduction of themselves, the team and the role each person has. Of course, everyone has a valuable contribution to make to the success of the team and it is hoped that the newer members will feel able to take a more active part in the future creating and enjoying good fortune with their Dharma brothers and sisters.

Everyone had made savory and sweet snacks and they also celebrated Ray Hardisty’s forthcoming birthday with a delicious birthday cake. Later in the evening three teams took part in a quiz relating to Buddhism. There was light hearted competition, lots of fun and a wonderful experience of Dharma joy.

The ESC Lotus Link Dharma group holds weekly meetings during which they deepen their understanding of Humanistic Buddhism through DVD’s, terminology, stories from Venerable Master Hsing Yun and discussion. It is their goal to include social events from time to time to strengthen relationships within the group and welcome new members.
