01 / 09

The special “Exquisite Sunday” lunch and tour package once again delivers its promise at Fo Guang Shan South Island. This week, four ladies from Christchurch, namely Ms. Diana Patten, Mrs. Gene and two other friends enjoyed their delicious vegetarian lunch at Tea House. Following the mouth watering meal, BLIA South Island President Mr. Almeric Cheng and Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island Assistant curator See-Shen Lee took the group of ladies for a Temple tour and Exhibtion tour.

Mr. Cheng began by explaining to the guests the design concepts of the building, while briefly touching on the Longman Cave ideology. He then led them through the Time Capsule for the introduction of Venerable Master Hsing Yun and the concept of Humanistic Buddhism. At the Buddha Hall, Mr Cheng introduced the teachings of Buddha in a nutshell and highlighted for the guests the significant details of the Hall’s interior design. The final stop for the Temple tour was the library, where Mr. Cheng showed everyone the vastness of the Buddha’s teachings by letting them witness the numerous volumes of Buddhist canons and literature which have taken up the majority of the room. Ms. Patten was amazed with the number of collections available at the library.

Their next destination was the Exhibition tour, where they joined in one of the free guided tours of the exhibition. After their breathtaking tour around the embroidery artworks by Yao Hong Ying, everyone expressed their appreciation for the excellent service provided by Mr. Cheng and the other volunteers for their warm reception and knowledgeable and refreshing Temple and Exhibtion tours’. The tour participants expressed their intention of visiting the upcoming exhibition next month.
