"Fluffy” Becomes the Talk of the Town
Even though “Wonders of Embroidery – Yao Hong Ying Embroidery Exhibition” has been on display at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island for the past few weeks, it continues to be the talk of the town and crowds still come rushing in each day, at larger and larger numbers.
On 11th June, Ms. Lorna Fitzgerald gathered 18 members from Order of the Eastern Start Christchurch Pioneer Chapter No. 526 and visited FGY Art Gallery South Island. For most members of the group, this was the second time that they have seen this exhibition and as they were deeply impressed by the exhibition first time round, they decided to gather a group to come and see it again.
Assistant Curator Ms. Lee said that each member of the group was interesting in their own way and there were many fascinating stories throughout the tour. There was one lady who walked around repeating the phrase “Fluffy! I want to see Fluffy!” as she looked for the artwork. The group, after seeing the exhibition, enjoyed some afternoon tea in Water Drop Tea House but returned later to the exhibition and was reluctant to leave. The group said that they were very happy with the arrangements and tour today and through their conversations, you can truly sense their passion for embroidery. They gave their highest appraisal to Fo Guang Shan South Island and expressed their interest in coming back for afternoon tea and future exhibitions.
