Wednesday Dharma Class

Around twenty English Sub-Chapter Members of BLIA joined the Wednesday Dharma Class for the election of their new Chairperson. Venerable Miaoyu guided the members through the elections. Although not all members could attend this election, they were able to make a proxy vote via Venerable Yu by text or email. Lesley Ruki-Willison was elected as the new Chairperson. Also elected were two Vice-Chairpersons, and a Secretary along with Event Coordinators. Other members also volunteered to undertake responsibility for work such as translation, the daily news, Lotus Link, and performances. The meeting was followed with discussion of the activities for the second half of the year and ways to attract new members to join ESC. All the members were very pleased that the new chairperson has been finally elected. Venerable Miaoyu expressed her appreciation of the ESC team’s kindness and care, and for the steady growth of the team. Also she requested that the members work on localising Buddhism by coordinating temple daily activities, and organising multi-cultural activities which can be promoted via the website to attract more new members.
