New Blood in Tour Guides Group Boosts Team Morale
In attempt to help the general public gain a better understanding of the artist and master pieces of the current exhibition ‘Wonders of Embroidery – Yao Hong Ying Embroidery Exhibition’, a training session was held at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island. Assistant Curator of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island Ms. See Shen Lee undertook the responsibility of training the group. During the training session, she pointed out some of the main points of the tour and things that tour guides needs to watch out for during the tour.
As every day, Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery receives over 60 visitors, Ms. Lee hopes that more people can come to the training sessions so that adequate number of tour guides will be available to bring out the best of the exhibition. On the night of 21st May, new comers to the tour guide group, Sheng-Han, Ally, Hao-Wen and Cindy began training officially and were given feedback on their tour guiding performances. In order to be a good tour guide, they need to be able to explain the contents relating to the exhibition in fluent English and need to have good people skills in order to make a good impression on the visitors.
Currently, Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island offers six guided sessions of the exhibition which runs every hour from eleven to four. This service has greatly surprised a number of local art enthusiasts and is greatly appreciated by them. Ally, who works as a website designer, has expressed interest in helping with the maintenance of the Fo Guang Shan South Island website.
On the other hand, Cindy and Hao-Wen, have taken up responsibility relating to administration and promotion aspect of the art gallery. In order to keep providing the highest quality exhibition, with the increase in number of visitors each day, every staff and volunteer of the art gallery will need to be equipped with not only knowledge, but also great people skills. In response to this, every member of the gallery is feeling a great sense of challenge and soon, immense accomplishment. The addition of new blood to the group has also boosted team morale at the gallery and adds new excitement to this already very successful embroidery exhibition.
