Dharma Class on “An Introduction to Buddhism”

01 / 08

A Dharma class on “An Introduction to Buddhism” was held on 8th of May at Fo Guang Shan South Island. Even though the weather was bad due to heavy rain and a cold front, it failed to stop more than ten members of BLIA South Island to attend the class. Venerable Juexi continued explaining the “five skandas” and “18 realms”, which were taught during the previous class.

Venerable Juexi explained that when a person is in deep sleep, the first five senses (eye, ear, nose, tongue and body) have no function. However, the sixth and seventh senses are still operating, and dreaming is considered activity in the sixth sense and seventh consciousnesses’. The students asked many questions when they were in doubt, and the Venerable provided an explanation accordingly. The atmosphere throughout the class was relaxed yet full of enthusiasm.
