Preparation Meeting for BLIA Day
A preparation meeting for BLIA Day was held on 7th May at FGS South Island. In the presence of Venerable Juexi, BLIA South Island President Almeric Cheng chaired the meeting; which was attended by ten other committee members. BLIA South Island will be holding a social gathering on 16th May, in conjunction with the global BLIA Day, and have invited all the volunteers who helped out during the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration. The organisers hope that the message of Buddha’s Light Day, which is friendship and gratitude, will be delivered during the event.
During the meeting, everyone discussed issues such as the venue, job allocations for the event and the activity schedule for that day. They also elected group leaders for each event team. The meeting resolutions include:
1. Having three representatives from BLIA and a member of YAD to give a speech on “The Origin of BLIA Day and its’ meaning”, “The Pride of BLIA New Zealand”, “The Prospect of BLIA South Island” and “BLIA South Island”.
2. The performances on the day have been finalized. North One Sub-chapter will perform a song, YAD will be performing hand gestures and students from the Cantonese class will be singing a Cantonese song.
3. During the day, a video will be played and snacks will be provided.
4. Venerable Abbess Manshin and the committee members of BLIA North Island will be invited to join the celebration.
