FGY Art Gallery Continues to Entice With Emboridery
Since the opening of Mrs. Yao Hong Ying’s Embroidery Exhibition at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island earlier this year, the Exhibition has attracted numerous Christchurch citizens, tourists and groups. On 5th May, Barbara Galbraith, a nurse from Christchurch Hospital and her overseas friends Margaret Redditt and Anna Mulvenna visited FGY Art Gallery South Island.
The trio found out about this Exhibition through their friends. Art Gallery Assistant Curator, See Shen Lee took the visitors for a tour of the Temple and Embroidery Exhibition. The jade Buddha in the Buddha Hall proved a great attraction for the ladies, who later made a wish at the wishing bell. At the conclusion of the tour, the visitors praised both the building and Embroidery artwork, for being utterly inspiring.
During the afternoon, the Art Gallery continued to welcome the many Christchurch people who came to the Temple to witness the Embroidery Exhibition. It was the first time for many of the locals to visit Fo Guang Shan South Island; they were attracted by the unique design of the Temple’s building. Everyone was amazed at the Exhibition, and was grateful to Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island for providing them an opportunity to appreciate such a high standard of Embroidery Art. The visitors promised to share the thrill with their friends and bring them to the Temple for a visit.
