01 / 34

In order to share more wisdom from Fo Guang Shan (FGS) founder – Venerable Master Hsing Yun throughout New Zealand and travelers from all over the world, Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) NZ has carried out the program of “Sharing Wisdom with Travelers” earlier this year. The event sees members of FGS and BLIA South Island NZ giving out the English version of 《366 Days with Wisdom》 to local inns and motels, allowing visitors to rejuvenate their journeys spiritually.

For a better improvement, BLIA South Island NZ has set up a book sharing group which are joined forces from the North Subchapter Leader – Jessie Teo, West Subchapter Leader – Mary Wong, BLIA south island Vice President – Elsa, Committee member William Chong and many more groups. Willam Chong, which is also from the Athena Motel of Christchurch, requested the books first handedly when knowing of the program. He expresses that, it is worth it as Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Humanistic Buddhism could always help travelers to defuse troubles which brings them joy.

During the event, North Subchapter Leader – Jessie Teo suddenly has an illness relapse, but this did not stop her from sharing out wisdoms to everyone. With an optimistic mindset, she insists in joining the sharing activity every weekend from door to door with the help of Vice President – Elsa and West Subchapter Leader Mary Wong and this touched every heart of FGS and BLIA members. After the program, leader Jessie has become healthier with the aid of medical rehab.

With the efforts of FGS South Island NZ Temple Supervisor – Venerable Jue Xi, BLIA South Island NZ President – SeeS hen Lee, Vice President – Louisa Kuo, committee members, leaders and participants, they have distributed 1,000 copies of 《366 Days with Wisdom》to 56 Christchurch lodges and motels from January to October of 2015, making it a successful proceeding.

Of the places in distributing, Heartland Hotel’s Manager – Myo, which is from a Thai descendent, has opt to receive 83 copies and expressed that through the books that were donated, it could give enhancement and understanding of Buddhism to this various faith and multiracial country in a delightful way. Other recipients also have the same thinking and throughout 《366 Days with Wisdom》, they believe that travelers would not only know more about Humanistic Buddhism, but also have a feeling from the way of the Dharma. Asian businessmen mostly learn Buddhism from their parents, and through these books, they could grasp more of the meaning of Humanistic Buddhism and Venerable Master’s wisdom.

Even Europeans and Maoris agreed on the chances given to foreign tourists in having books other than Christianity to be chosen from. It is something to be encouraged as an exchange of understanding of beliefs and the integration will bring positivity. There are even hotels from Dunedin, the more southern part of New Zealand, calling up the temple to obtain Venerable Master’s books after reading it.

These positive feedbacks heightened the energy of BLIA South Island members and it brings them to comprehend more on Venerable Master’s teachings of the Four Givings – “Giving Others Confidence, Giving Others Hope, Giving Others Joy and Giving Others Convenience”.

As the program of “Sharing Wisdom with Travelers” is coming to an end for the current year, BLIA members wishes that next year which is the year of 2016, the program could be continued to old folks homes, sharing Venerable Master’s wisdoms to the elderly, showing them important revelation of Buddhism in their life.
