NZ North Island YADs headed down to Christchurch

On Wednesday 15th of April 2009, 5 NZ North Island YADs headed down to Christchurch to help the South Island temple with their Buddha’s Day on Sunday.

Despite the exhaustion from our trip, the youths took up the responsibility of being the pioneers of the strong Auckland army to reinforce the Christchurch Buddha’s Day. Getting straight into it, we practiced our performance for the day: hand gestures. It was hard work as we had to learn a total of FIVE songs! (Transform and Contribute, Home of Light, Stars and Cloud, Harmonize, and Droplet of Gratitude)

Even during our break, we collected the broomstick and duster to clean up the floor of the Tea House. The area suddenly seemed to stretch on forever, but we managed to cover all grounds. Before we could even let out a sigh of relieve, we discovered that it was almost dinner time, and we rushed to the kitchen to help with serving. Fumbling around in the foreign turf, the Auckland YADs find comfort in their fellow Christchurch YADs’ assistance, and finally finished the task at hand.

After dinner, the members continued their rehearsal for hand gesture. When we got the grasp of it at last, piles of paper work buried down on us, and we began busy cutting and sticking away.

Finally, sleep time! At 9.30pm sharp, we dragged our barely functioning body upstairs, and blissfully embraced the sleep, which claimed us the second we touched the pillow.
