Movie Study Group Explores the Eight Consciousnesses

On 10th April, another movie study group was held at Fo Guang Shan South Island, and Venerable Juexi led 20 devotees and BLIA committee members in watching a talk by Venerable Manji on the eight consciousnesses on Television Buddhist College.

Prior to viewing the video, Venerable Juexi explained the eight consciousnesses and introduced the terminology that was to show up in the video. She also talked about the relationship between the “intrinsic six senses” and “extrinsic six senses”, and the “three environments”, the “three capacities” and the “three natures”.

Group discussion on the topic helped the students in their learning progress. Since they have already laid a good foundation for their learning, they were able to understand the message and wisdom embodied in the talk.
Venerable Juexi encouraged students to take on a relaxed approach to the learning process, and to always be a role-model in daily life, the truth will be unveiled when everything presents.

The movie study group ended at 8.30pm, and the next movie study group is scheduled for 24th April, where participants will be enjoying a movie based on the story of Venerable Hongyi.
