YAD Over the Moon With Its “New Addition”

01 / 08

On 2nd April, BLIA Young Adults Division South Island President Jason Liu brought his friend Jonathon, a third-year university student to FGS South Island for a visit, where they were warmly welcomed by Venerable Juexi. At the beginning of the year, Jonathon and his father visited Fo Guang Shan’s Glass Art Exhibition, and through Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery, they became acquainted with Venerable Ruchang, the head of the Art Gallery.

Jonathon brought along the souvenir he received at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery’s headquarters and passed it to FGS New Zealand Abbess Venerable Abbess Manshin.

Jason and Jonathon have been friends since primary school, and as soon as Jonathon met the energetic young adults at the Temple, without hesitation, he signed up to be member of South Island YAD.

On another note, Mrs. Nan from Nanjing, China, brought daughter Zhang to the Temple for a session of hand gesture practice with YAD. Through her conversation with Venerable Juexi, Mrs. Nan explained that she has vast experience in social work. As a National Second Class Psychologist, she voluntarily conducted a traditional literature class at Ji Min Temple, where she motivated the students to learn using various instructional methods. She also established a consultancy service at the Temple to serve the local devotees.

Currently, Mrs. Nan is looking after her daughter who is studying in Christchurch. She found out about Fo Guang Shan South Island through a Fo Guang Shan branch temple in Nanjing.

Mrs. Nan expressed that the environment at the Temple has left her with a good impression, and has thus decided to become a volunteer there. She has also signed her daughter up for YAD membership. The Temple and YAD were delighted with the addition of the new members.
