5th Preparation Meeting Brings BLIA One Step Closer
The fifth preparation meeting for the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration was held on 28th of March. In the presence of Venerable Juexi, the meeting was chaired by BLIA South Island President Almeric Cheng, and was attended by Advisors Sandy Liao and John Lai, committee members as well as the Presidents of Young Adults Division Group One and Two, totaling 19 people.
During the meeting, each group reported their progress: 100 people will be joining in the offering to Buddha ceremony, approximately 20 babies will be participating in baby blessing ceremony; five groups of performers have been invited. After discussion, a meeting resolution was made: the logistics team decided to move the Buddha Statue from its storage location to the Temple on 11th April; and the stage will be erected on the night of 17th April at 5pm.
In addition, program co-ordinator Advisor Liao invited Kiwi music teachers Lois Short and Mike to help the BLIA in looking for candidates to sing the National Anthem during the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration.
Also on 28th of March, Lois Short and Mike came to FGS South Island to have a discussion with Advisor Liao and the members of the event group on the particulars of the singing process.
Everyone felt the grandeur of the annual event after reading last year’s “Buddha Birthday Celebration Special Edition” magazine.
Everyone expressed that they will use all their efforts to make this year’s Buddha’s Birthday Celebration a successful one.
