Food For the Heart-“Ideology of Buddhism” Class Begins

The first term of the “Ideology of Buddhism” course began on 18th March at 7pm at Fo Guang Shan South Island. President of BLIA South Island, Mr. Almeric Cheng, Vice-president Ms. Mei Hua Chen and committee members to a total of 20 people attended the maiden class.

The first lecture was conducted by Venerable Juexi, where she introduced the relationship between the “Five Skandhas” and “Eighteen Realms” to the students. During the lecture, the students were separated into several groups, so that they could study and discuss the topic amongst themselves, and brainstorm to get the best answer for each of their group member’s questions.

There will be ten lectures during the term to help the students’ progress step-by-step in gaining Buddhist wisdom. The students expressed that they found the answer to the questions in their minds through the interactions with other students.

This aim of the Buddhism class is to help the new devotees develop an in-depth understanding of Buddhism and strengthen the foundations of senior devotees.
