01 / 08

On 10th of March, the family members of BLIA Young Adults Division Vice-president Jay Chen visited the “Wonders of Embroidery–Yao Hong Ying Embroidery Art Exhibition” at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island. Venerable Juexi and Art Gallery Assistant Curator See Shen Lee welcomed the guests and showed them around the Exhibition.

The visiting Chen clan consisted of Jay’s grandparents, mother and auntie. Jay’s grandmother, Mrs. Chen, who was a badminton representative for Taiwan years back, is also interested in embroidery. Auntie Mrs. Chen Li Ping is a member of BLIA South Island. She is talented in traditional Chinese knotting, and always helps the Temple in making knots whenever she has spare time. Grandmother Mrs. Chen gave special mention to several embroidery works by Mrs. Yao, especially the “Wang’s” portrait.

The Chen family was touched to see that the ancient Chinese traditional art works have reached western countries, and even more so for it to reach far away New Zealand.

The Embroidery Exhibition has successfully attracted overseas visitors and has also received good response from local community. All those who witnessed the Embroidery for themselves were amazed by the skill and ability of Ms. Yao in embroidery and highly rated her works.
