Buddha’s Birthday Celebration Back in the Focus

On 28th of February, BLIA South Island held a meeting to prepare for Buddha’s Birthday Celebration. Representing BLIA South Island President Mr. Almeric Cheng, BLIA South Island Vice-president Mrs. Chen Mei Hua chaired the meeting in the presence of Venerable Abbess Manshin and Venerable Juexi. Those who attended included BLIA South Island Advisors Mrs. Sandy Liao and Mr. John Lai, Vice-president Mr. Jack Liu, BLIA members and members of Young Adults Division, totaling 30 people.

During the meeting, they discussed the job allocations for the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration, namely, ceremony staff, administrative team, Dharma function team, publicity, reception, general affairs, ticketing and transportation. The group leaders and members for each team were also elected.

Venerable Abbess Manshin encouraged everyone to be creative and innovative while conducting their activities, and learn from the processes involved. Abbess also urged everyone to prioritise faith as the core of their activities, in order to reap a quality outcome.

In order to allow organisations and businesses to support the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration and create good affinities with the local community, the fundraising group for the Celebration held a meeting on 1st March. The meeting was chaired by BLIA South Island’s Advisor Liao and was attended by 11 BLIA members. The group brainstormed solutions for finding sponsors for the event. Meeting members set their follow-up meeting for 7th of March, which is when each team member will report their progress.
