“Reserve Some Space”
On 25th of February, another session of the Shrine Attendants’ study group was held. Under the guidance of Venerable Juexi, Ms. Louisa Kuo led seven fellow Shrine attendants in sharing an afternoon together, reading the literature of Venerable Master Hsing Yun.
During the study group, the attendees read an article from the Merit Times newspaper written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, namely “Reserve spaces”. Venerable Master explains that we should reserve some space for “language”, “literature”, “administration” and “human relationships”.
Everyone agreed that in their daily lives, the words of “must” should be replaced by “maybe” or “probably”. One should not be too harsh, instead, one should always think about others’ feelings. It is essential that volunteers learn how to lead others and motivate them to get involved, as well as continually working on improving themselves.
Venerable Juexi said that “space” means “flexibility”, and that a perfect “space” requires the combination of inherent wisdom and good conditions. In addition, studying the Dharma more regularly and forming good affinities with others are ways of increasing the opportunity for the creation of “space”.
